Road Trip'n 3000+ miles :P
Packed and ready to go, car slammed to the ground with weight in the back, leaving everything I once knew and were familiar with @ Home = Pure Excitement.Def started out the trip out of the ordinary leaving @ 3am from South Jerz approx. 3089 miles away from our destination we got on the road. 2 hrs and we were past philly with no traffic at this point passing time by filling our lungs with joy. Our first stop for gas was somewhere in PA and it was freezing, woke us right up with no problem. Packing the drinks and food beforehand def came in handy and was much easier to stop for gas making things quicker. Getting great gas mileage already we were truck'n along almost 300 miles away from home. We knew once the sun came up our eyes and bodies would wake up and get out of this funk we were in. 14 total states for the journey and we were only in the 2nd one at this point. Stop'n approx. every 300 miles we were on a set schedule. Sun was coming up finnally around 6am and lucky enough we had not hit traffic at this point on the trip, smooth sailing esp. with cops, barely any. Averaging 75mph-80 we traveled thru multiple states, mainly stopping for gas and enjoying the sites as we drove by.
Breaking down in Waynesville, MO will never leave my memory. First we are in cruise control just going up another slight mountain hill and my car jerks a bit and I lose all power to my turbo. Rockn the 4cyl engine with no boost was not your average day ride, I could get more power out of a electric golf cart. Pull over off an exit and pop'd the hood to find no evidence of oil or any breakage. Thinkn the turbo overheated we quickly looked for a hotel/motel to stay over for the nght, at this point its 6pm or so. It was a rough 12hrs on the road at this point. I remember saying to Papi "Give me 10 minutes and I'll wake up to go to the bar", which was located across the street. I quickly passed out till the next morning when the calls started to the tow truck, my father, and insurance company.
Stuck in Waynesville at this point, we soon realized we weren't liked here. I woke up in the morning to 6 brand new screws placed in front of my tire on the blind side of my car. Somebody was a prick and wanted me to get flat tire for sure after breakn down the day before. We quickly traveled via tow truck (flatbed) and got to Springfield, MO where a dealership was located. It was actually a BMW dealership but was expanding, unfortunately they only have one AUDI tech, but he def knew his shit. Sitting there for an hour after receiving as many free drinks as possible we soon learned I had detroyed my cams, camshaft, cam follower, and fuel pump. Not completely but enough the car wouldnt run without new pieces, UNDER WARRANTY :P. I was at 49,985 miles and my first warranty runs out at 50k. I was one lucky mo fo. They took us to a hotel that Papi and I picked out and it was located near the University so we thought that was the best option at the time. We didn't know how long we would be stuck and this was just putting off the 3 day adventure we planned on the road. Instead it moved the 3 day to a 5 day. We were stuck in Springfield, home of the Simpsons for 2 days. We met plenty of people and def some interesting ones at that. Names are somewhat a blur, but the bars were fun, streets were great to walk, people were interesting, and food was bang'n.
BACK ON THE ROAD again after eatn some amazing pizza where I met Holly who rock'd the party, ha. Cool ass chick that hooked us up fully for our roadtrip. It made things a lot more at ease to find someone like this in MO after all the hell we went thru. Originnally we were gunna go to this pizza place the first day we were in town and chose not too. Prob would of met her before and had an even better stay in Springfield. We got the car back from the dealer, got gas, and a few essentials....then back on the road we went. At this point we knew we were going to be traveling into the night throughout the next morning and afternoon. Nothing we could expect just try and do it! We drove for 24hrs itleast or spent it on the road. The night sky turned into light once we were thru Texas Id say but with the time difference we experienced every few hundred miles light in the sky seemed to delay hrs.
Arriving rs. in California at first we went thru a check point where they asked us if we had any plants, and etc. I explained by saying no and that we were from Jerz, he commented like everyone else by saying " damn you guys are far away from home" as I quickly left blowing the airhorns which were installed just for the trip :P Another couple hours in California and we would arrive at our destination but with the 110+ deg. weather it was hard, real hard. Windows down, drinks in our hand, only thing we had to keep us flowing on the road.
